INTRODUCTION:
Established in 1992 Nandalal Borgohain City College Dibrugarh stepped into the glorious Silver Jubilee year is co-educational institution of Higher Education situated in South-Western part of Dibrugarh town at Nirmali Gaon was established by renowned educationist Late Nandalal Borgohain. The college is an affiliated institution under Dibrugarh University in 1997. The college was awarded “B” Grade by NAAC with the Institutional Score 73.00 with effect from 23rd November, 2005. The college attempts to augment the quality of education as well as to create a hygienic atmosphere in the campus.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION:
The department of education, Nandalal Borgohain City College was started with the motto of the college -Lead All ahead towards excellence. The department has been giving importance on offering the general knowledge of education the students and offering specific knowledge on education, psychology, statistics, micro teaching, management of education, history of education etc. The department always wishes to train up the students for a good citizenship, good personality, as a good teacher, for a good academic career and for a real education person for the welfare of the society or the nation. The department of education started its major course since 2003. From the beginning onwards the department has been taking initiatives to upgrade the academic standard of the department as-well-as the college.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE:
- General objective of the department is to offer basic knowledge of the subject and make the students illegible for getting higher education.
- Promote Higher Educational Opportunities to the students as well as the society.
- To offer education regarding Psychology, Philosophy, Statistics , Educational history, Teaching methodology , Educational Technology , Comparative Study of education .
- Train up the students with micro and macro teaching skills to make effective teachers.
- To make the department aware to carry out authentic research and academic activities to cope up with the need of the time.
- To develop extension activities and best practices involving the students as well as the teachers for the betterment of the society
- To enhance the social values and make the attitude of devotion and dedication to save the society.
- To provide value education.
- To make the students aware to undertake activities against superstitions.

The department of education , Nandalal Borgohain City College organizes seminars, webinars, discussions talks, FDP, teacher exchange and students programme etc. from time to time. A few of the national, international regional and departmental programmes are highlighted herewith.
- National Workshop on “Use of Technical Terminology in Higher Education” was held on 5th and 6th June, 2018 organised by Department of Education and Sociology of N.L.B City College, Dibrugarh sponsored by Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
- A talk on “Appropriate Education for 21st Century” organised by Dept. of Education & IQAC, NLB City College, Dibrugarh on 26th Oct, 2018.
- National Webinar on “Mental Stress and Online Education during Covid-19 Pandemic” organised by IQAC, Nandalal Borgohain City College and IQAC, Mazbat college in association with Department of Education, Mazbat College, Udalguri and Department of Education, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh on 25th June 2020.
- National Level One Week Faculty Development Programme on “E-Content and ICT Tools for Innovative and Effective Teaching” organised by IQAC and Department of Education, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh in association with BSVS Educational Learning Centre, Nagpur held from 6th July to 11th July, 2020.
- International Webinar on “Post Pandemic Challenges to Liberal Democratic Institution in South Asia” organised by IQAC Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh in collaboration with Department of Education and Department of Political Science, Nandalal City College, Dibrugarh held on 15th July 2020.
- International Webinar on “Post Pandemic Higher Education: Approaches and Way Forward” organised jointly by IQAC and Department of Education, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh and Department of Education, Mazbat College, Udalguri, Assam in collaboration with The Mirror: A Peer-reviewed Research Journal of History, Cinnamara College, Jorhat on 23rd July, 2020.
- National Webinar on “Impact of Covid-19 on Social Science Research: Challenges and Opportunities” organised by IQAC and Department of Education and Department of Sociology, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh in collaboration with Mohan Chandra Mahanta Adhyayan Gobesona Kendra (A Social Science Research Centre of Cinnamara College, Jorhat on 31st July 2020.
- International webinar on “ICT Integrated Educational Neuroscience” organised by Department of Education, Mazbat College, Mazbat, Assam and Department of Education, Marangi Mahavidyalaya, Golaghat, Assam in Association with IQAC, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh, Assam held on 9th October, 2020.
- Faculty Exchange Programme With Dibru College, Dibrugarh: Dr. Manashi Gogoi Borgohain, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, Nandalal Borgohain City College, Dibrugarh performed a Faculty Exchange Programme at Dibru College, Dibrugarh on the topic “Gandhian Thoughts and its Relevance in Higher Society” on 21st January, 2019.
- A talk on intra-disciplinary seminar was organised by the department of education on the topic A comparative study of Higher education in India, USA, UK & Japan.
- A departmental workshop on the topic of Tourism As A Career Opportunity had been organised by the Dept. of History, resource person Dr. Manashi Gogoi Borgohain Vice-principal of Nandalal Borgohian City College was invited to conduct the event on 23rd March, 2017.
PUBLICATION:
The department annually published departmental wall magazine and a research based bilingual ISBN book ANNEKSHAN.
COMMUNITY WORKS.
The students as well as the teachers of the department actively joined in NSS NCC and Community works.
ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT:
Alumni of the departments engaged themselves in different jobs like Assistant Professor, TET teacher, B.Ed Teacher, Journalist, CISF, Assam Police, Banking,and other and some are self employed by different business etc.
